SUSTAINABLE MANUFACTURE SYSTEMS TOWARDS NOVEL BIO-BASED MATERIALS
SUSTAINABLE MANUFACTURE SYSTEMS TOWARDS NOVEL BIO-BASED MATERIALS
The GREEN-LOOP project aims to design and optimise three innovative bio-based materials and components for the industrial sectors:
- Multifunctional rubber panels for reduction of vibro-acoustics transmission loss and fire-retardant properties
- Bioplastic bottle closures for oil and spirits
- Wood composites bearings for Appliance and Tooling Industry.
The ambition of GREEN-LOOP is to enhance and support the bioeconomy through robust product design adapted to new sustainable and circular schemes, reducing the cost of manufacture and accelerating the market introduction of novel bio-based products.
To do so, the Value Chain of each product has been optimised from raw material source to End Of Life of products, ensuring the circular economy.
Boosting the bio-based materials in new markets for different industrial sectors and reducing the cost of manufacture.
Economic
contribution
Creating new knowledge in manufacturing tools and equipment, disseminating it among the scientific community and giving input for further research solutions.
Scientific
contribution
Making GREEN-LOOP R&I results work for society and delivering a better understanding of the role of bio-based materials manufacturing in reaching climate neutrality by 2050.
Societal
contribution
Ensuring a lower environmental footprint and proposing an environmentally friendly production from materials sourcing to End Of Life – recycle, reuse, refurbish.
Environmental
contribution
Social and Gender dimension
GREEN-LOOP project aims to improve well-being by solving a global problem, improving social cohesion and creating new business models with opportunities for all the citizens, especially in the bio-chemical, materials, manufacturing sectors and digital platforms.
GREEN-LOOP will consider two main aspects when implementing digital and smart tools for manufacture:
- Designing optimised value chains tools that integrate gender perspectives, leading to environmental and circular economic solutions that can drive the bio-based transition by adopting novel manufacturing technologies.
- Driving the circular transition by taking an intersectional approach to gender, age and socioeconomic factors. Bio-based materials companies, policymakers, and researchers need to understand better gender and other social, economic, and demographic factors.
