Główny Instytut Górnictwa – PIB (Central Mining Institute, GIG-PIB) is one of the major Polish research institutions with nearly 100 years of experience in the mining engineering, energy sector, environmental engineering, clean coal technologies, circular economy, and many other industries as well as enterprises representing different branches – including SMEs, state and local administration institutions and offices, and foreign partners. GIG-PIB has a long practice in environmental studies, qualified and experienced research, and technical-engineering personnel. GIG-PIB is mainly involved in activities on the implementation of the principles of sustainable development in the field of energy and the use of renewable energy sources and other alternative technologies, especially those in the area of clean coal technologies.
In GREEN LOOP, GIG-PIB, among other activities, will be co-developing methodologies to ensure circularity for bio-materials, End of Life strategies and value chain assessment (WP2) which will be used for the business models (WP6).
